The disadvantages of the status quo.

When he heard “growth,” Monish immediately imagined long hours and tons of extra work. So when demand for their work was high, he initially decided to stick to fewer projects.

But as Monish worked through the Accountability Chart with Construction Leading Edge, his perspective shifted. He was saying no to opportunities: the ability to delegate work he didn’t enjoy, create freedom in his schedule, and provide employees with meaningful work.

“I came to a realization that if I want to achieve my goals and the lifestyle that I want and need to have for my family, I need to grow the business. And it’s completely possible in the current timeframe because we’ve got the demand. I’d be stupid to not do it.”

Expanding the team.

Monish made a critical shift in his thinking: he didn’t need to grow the business on his own. The right people would help him grow the business.

Monish and Michelle decided they wanted to hire a pre-construction manager. By opening their minds to growth, they saw hiring opportunities they wouldn’t have seen before. The perfect candidate stepped into their network, and Monish jumped on the chance to add them to the team.

“It’s shown me how I can actually improve my career goals instead of being stuck doing a job that I’ve never really enjoyed doing.”

Getting into
the right role.

Before growing the team, Monish was spread thin across every department. But when Monish delegated more responsibilities, he was free to maximize his strengths. Now Monish is focused on developing his team members. He loves to help people solve problems and achieve their personal goals.

Freedom that comes

from growth.

Getting the right people in the right roles allowed Monish to work less overtime and spend more time with Michelle and their newborn baby.

Time

Monish is no longer a bottleneck in his business. When he’s tired, it’s ok for him to have a slow morning at home and start work later.

“It’s time now to start focusing on more important things like our newborn. Now that I’ve seen how we can achieve growth as well as my lifestyle, it’s very exciting.”
